Your HABCOLog 2.0 checks your fridge every few minutes and sends its alarms over its own connection — no router, no Wi-Fi password, nothing for IT to set up. If it goes too warm or too cold for longer than the delay you set, it sends you an alarm.

How it works

Two clocks inside your logger

One clock writes down the temperature. The other sends it to the cloud. They run separately.

Alarms jump the queue

Your logger does not sit on bad news until the next sync. It speeds up and sends the alarm.

Power messages jump the queue too

Losing mains power and getting it back are alarms as well, so they do not wait for the syncing interval either.

No internet? Still recording.

If the signal drops, the logger keeps writing temperatures in its own memory. When the signal returns, it sends everything.

USB-C power

Plug it in, sync faster

Your logger runs on four AA batteries. It behaves a little differently while it is plugged in.

What changes

Plugged into USB-C, the logger stops waiting for the daily send. It pushes its saved readings up every 15 minutes.

What does not change

Alarm speed. A reading outside your limits never waits for the next sync — plugged in or not.

Look for the bolt

A small lightning bolt on the fridge card means “External power connected”. Your saved Syncing Interval still reads 24 Hours.

Nothing to set up

There is no network to join and no password to type. Switch it on and it finds its own connection. Check the signal where the fridge actually sits — a basement or a steel-lined room can be a coverage hole.

When the power goes out

A power cut is when a fridge is most at risk. Your logger keeps working, and it tells you.

It keeps recording

The logger switches to its AA batteries straight away and carries on saving temperatures.

It tells you quickly

It notices at its next scheduled save — so up to 10 minutes. Because this is an alarm, it does not then wait for the daily sync.

You are told twice

One message when the power goes. A second message when the power comes back.

This is the reason to buy cellular

A mains cut usually kills the router as well, which silences a Wi-Fi logger at the exact moment you need it. This one carries its own connection, so the power-cut message still leaves the building.

Who hears about it

The email goes to you and to every colleague you shared the fridge with. The text goes to the fridge owner only, and these do not arrive as push messages.

Texts need two things

A mobile number confirmed in your profile, and text credit left on that fridge. Otherwise the text quietly fails.

What to do about it

Put a cellular logger on the fridge you can least afford to lose. Ask HABCO to check your power messages are switched on.

It watches itself too

A logger that has gone quiet is no use. Two things are checked for you, with no setting to switch on.

Low battery

You get an email while there is still life left in the batteries — not once they are flat. Change all four at the same time, and keep the old ones out of the drawer.

Missed check-in

If the logger does not reach the server when it should, the system emails you to say no data has arrived. That covers a flat battery, a dead router and a unit someone unplugged.

Two kinds of alarm

One rings at the first bad reading. The other waits to see if the problem is real.

Immediately

Rings the moment one reading goes out of range. Very safe. Noisy when the door opens often.

If persist more than 15 min

Rings only if the fridge stays out of range for the whole 15 minutes. A quick door opening stays quiet.

One delay covers both directions

The delay you pick applies to too warm and too cold alike. You cannot set a long warm delay and a short cold one, which is why we suggest the shorter, safer value.

Fill in the probe card. The built-in room sensors can stay on “No Alarm”.

Which card do I fill in?

Your logger comes with one probe, so you get one temperature card — usually named TEMP I. That is the one that goes in the fridge, and the one that needs 2 and 8. The built-in Ambient Temperature and Relative Humidity cards measure the room, so leave those on “No Alarm” unless you want them.

Adding a second probe later

There is a spare temperature port — Port III — if you ever want to watch two fridges, or the top and bottom of one. A second card appears once it is plugged in. Set it the same way, because a card left empty has no alarm on it.

Set “Alarm Trigger Delay” to “If persist more than 15 min”. Turn Send Alarms on. Click Save.

Give it time

Your logger picks up new settings at its next sync. To apply them right away, press the SYNC button — the left button on the logger. Until it syncs, its card says “Unsynced settings” and the old numbers are still running.

Who gets the message

Email, text and phone calls are chosen once on your own profile page, under “Receive Alarms by” — not on each fridge.

Two ways to hear nothing

Both boxes empty means no alarm at all. Send Alarms switched off means silence too. Check both before you walk away.

Open the fridge’s settings

Same gear as before. Scroll to the section headed “Access and Ownership”. Find the “Share access” card and click “View and Add”.

The alarm labels are ours. In the app the list is four plain choices.

Who gets the alarm

Everyone on the list gets alarms, except a “Silent Viewer (No Alarm)”. That level is the only quiet one — it sees exactly what a Viewer sees. You, as the owner, are on every alarm and cannot be taken off.

Who can change settings

The settings gear is offered to an Editor and to Service & Maintenance. It is not offered to a Viewer.

Type their email anyway and click “Send Invitation email”. Access starts the moment they confirm their new account.

Sharing needs Premium

Without Premium on that fridge you cannot add anyone new. Colleagues you already shared it with keep their access and their alarms. To take someone off, open “Share access” again and click the red bin beside their name.

Limits belong to the fridge. How you are told belongs to you, and you set it once.

To get texts

Pick your “Country Calling Code” first, then “Enter Your Number” and type the 5-digit code we text you. Saving with an unconfirmed number is refused with “Confirm phone number first”.

To get calls

The phone rings with an automated voice, at any hour. Each call is paid from that fridge’s credit. There is no do-not-disturb and no snooze.

This is per person, not per fridge

Every colleague sets their own channels. Changing yours changes nothing for anyone else, on any fridge.

Email and push are free

Email alarms go to as many people as you like, and push notifications cost nothing. Only texts and phone calls draw on credit.

Your starting credit

Every logger arrives with a starting balance of alarm credit. Contact HABCO for current text and call rates.

Topping up

When a fridge runs low, buy more credit online from My Profile. Credit sits on each fridge, so check the busy ones.

Dates and times

“Time zone” decides the times printed on every report — set it before you print anything for an inspector. “Date Format” and “Time Format” are separate from “Language”.

Sign out to see it

Date and time formats only appear after you sign out and sign back in. The app tells you so.

Measurement units

Metric or Imperial. This decides whether your alarm emails read in °C or °F.

Blue dot = our advice, not a published rule. The 2 °C and 8 °C limits come from published storage guidance (CDC, NIST and the Public Health Agency of Canada). The intervals and delays are ours; the other rows are simply how the app’s switches should be set.

One thing to check

Your health authority may ask for different numbers. Theirs win. Use ours when you have no rule to follow.

Set the fridge to 5

Set the fridge’s own dial near 5 °C. That is your safety margin — not a tighter alarm.

Freezers: ask first

Our probe reads down to −20 °C. A colder freezer needs a different probe. Talk to HABCO first.

What “No Connection Alarm” does

It watches for readings arriving, not for temperature. If the logger misses its scheduled sync — flat battery, dead router, unit unplugged — you get an email saying no data has arrived. At a 24-hour Syncing Interval that is a next-day warning, not an instant one, and it goes quiet after a week of silence. Leave it on: the readings stay safe inside the logger, but while it is offline no alarm can reach you.

The vaccine version

“Vaccine Temperature Report” adds opening and closing readings. Tick “Min/Max” yourself — it starts unticked, so the default report has no daily minimum or maximum in it.

Two things to know

This report needs Premium access on that fridge — on the free tier only “Detailed readouts” opens. And the vaccine report’s “Vaccine Outrange Time” column counts against a fixed 2 °C and 7.8 °C, not against the limits you typed.

Do I have Premium on this fridge?

Look for the small diamond in the top corner of the fridge’s card. A diamond means Premium, and Advanced Reports will open. No diamond means that fridge is on the free plan. Premium is bought and managed from My Profile.

What is MKT?

MKT is one number that sums up total heat damage over a period. The “Vaccine Temperature Report” has a “Mean Kinetic Temperature (MKT)” tickbox that works it out for you. The “Min/ Max/ Average daily report” has no MKT option.

What your subscription covers

A cellular logger keeps an active subscription for as long as you use it.

No free tier on this model

This model never drops to the free tier — the subscription keeps Premium switched on. The two lists below show what each level includes, so you can see what the subscription is buying you.

The free tier keeps

  • Live temperatures, the dashboard and the fridge card.
  • Every alarm — email, text, phone call and push.
  • Charts and records going back 45 days.
  • The “Detailed readouts” report, for those same 45 days.

Premium adds

  • Your full history, back past 45 days.
  • Every other report, including Min/Max and the vaccine report.
  • Automatic reports, sent to you on a schedule.
  • Sharing a fridge with someone new, and handing one over.

It is per fridge

Premium is bought for one fridge — not for your pharmacy, and not for each person. The diamond on a card tells you that fridge has it.

Nothing fails quietly

On the free tier the Create and Automatic Report buttons are locked, and clicking one tells you Premium access is needed — it never just returns an empty report. If you already had an automatic report scheduled, the system emails you to say your Premium access has expired.

Where to manage it

My Profile, under “Access and Credit Management”. Each fridge has its own row and its own remaining days. Texts and calls draw on a separate credit balance.

Cellular always needs a subscription

This model carries its own data, so it cannot sit on the free tier. It needs an active subscription for as long as you use it.

Cellular data is included

This model uses a built-in eSIM — there is no SIM card to fit and no network to join. Data is covered by your HABCO Cloud subscription. Contact HABCO for terms.
